Siti Balkish Roslan is a Lecturer at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University at the Department of Architecture + Design. She is also a registered architect with the Malaysian Board of Architects (Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia).

Her work and research primarily focuses on the Architecture Design and Architecture History and Theory units. She has a particular interest in Design, Modernism and Bamboo Architecture.

Siti's work with her studio(*) gained recognition and was selected by the Malaysian Institute of Architects and exhibited at the Kuala Lumpur Architecture Festival in July 2019 as one of its main features. She was also invited as a guest speaker by Architectural Association Visiting School (AAVS) and Institut Teknologi Bandung for the Bamboo Lab Program to share and present her projects.

She has published in the field of Malaysian Modern Architecture and Architecture Theory and History, which resulted to a change of developing a new undergraduate module(*) that teaches history through a design perspective. Her doctoral research is a continuation of this field with the intention of developing a new framework on how history and theory can be re-evaluated and reinterpreted to have relevance and practical pedagogical implications in line with the advancement of economic, socio culture, political and technological developments.

Her research continued in the form of a research grant looking into identifying the formative ideas of Malaysian Modern Architecture through an analysis of precedents, for which she was awarded a 1-year grant from the Taylor’s Research Grant Scheme. This research has resulted in a different approach in canonical views of teaching in the Bachelor of Architectural Science program(*) in the culture unit questioning the role, philosophy and influence of Western Modern Architecture proving a shift towards Western-centric issues to contextual issues.

She is passionate of the value of integrating research into undergraduate teaching and introducing new projects that restructures the outdated methods of teaching.
